Back in Perth for a week now... Eric's birthday dinner at FAB Burgers, Subiaco was a nice get-together. Thanks Eric for the treat!
As I spent the rest of the week on my own. Saturday's 30km run was so-so. Did it in 2:27.19 (average 4.54 per km). Found myself running slower and slower as the sun became hotter and hotter. My 10km splits were 47.47, 48.35 and 50.57.
Sunday's supposedly 160km bike ride became a discounted 130km distance. Temperature was a scorching 37 degrees. I only carried 2 bottles of plain water. Had to take several breaks under the shade. I was getting hungry and my legs were feeling weak towards the last 20kms. Learnt a valuable lesson - next time, I'll schedule a meal break during the ride and BRING SOME MONEY! Completed the 130.5km distance in 4:47.57 (average 27.2 kph)
Training on your own is hard work. No ice cream cendol at Bentong to look forward to. No social chit chat at the Sri Hartamas Petronas station. Just me, myself and the sun.
Looking forward to the day darling returns...

doing century ALONE is psycho, man.. maybe u shud get GF to wait for u after 80km or something, just to cheer u up.. take care and train safe
does that mean I am a psycho!
ha ha
Thanks, Aini. GF still in KL lah. It's a good thing she's away though, because when she returns, I would start tapering and spend less time on the bike.
Sofian is obviously much stronger mentally. Heheh, not mentally psycho!
i have made that proposition a few times but i dunno lah dunno if wud disrupt his training cycle. but ya worst thing is i'm only back after cny end jan, so by then he alr habis his 160ks adi.
*psstt, kevin has said that he will only consume powerbars during IM.* Hands up those who think that's too little nourishment!
*oh he has mentioned the muffins provided by organisers also lah*
Nolah, won't disrupt. But of course can't have too long a break also. About 30 minutes is fine :)
Yeah, actually I'm glad I had it going tough during this training. So now I know I have to eat during the ride in Langkawi.
hmm...riding alone 160km is doable...kinda sien..but hey...u know ironman is 180km, and no drafting.
But your run time is darn impressive...:)
Hehheh, Yip, cannot compete with you lah, you cycle overnight one!
You sure you saw the right times? The timing I quoted is for 130km you know, not 160km hehheh.
hahaha! on that note, i also psycho coz i did Ipoh century ride alone :S
Hahhah aren't we all just a bit psycho for doing the things we do ;)
